Junior Infants, Senior Infants 5th and 6th Class will start swimming on Wednesday 11th January for 7 weeks. The cost is €40 per child. An e-payment link has been sent to parents of children in these classes if they wish to pay online. Alternatively, the money can be paid to the office.
4th, 5th and 6th classes have been battling it out over the last six weeks in our annual school quiz. Well done to all the children. Sarah Gorman is quiz champion for 2017. Well done to our two quiz teams who participated in the recent Credit Union Quiz. Our U13 team came 3rd and our U11 team came 1st. The U11 team will now go on to the next round representing the Portlaoise area. This will take place on Friday 3rd March in Kildare House Hotel at 7pm sharp. The U11 Team are Sarah Gorman, Tara Ring, Anna Browne and Pavan Polassery  Chess is on every Monday and Thursday at big lunch from 1.05pm-1.30pm for 5th and 6th class and Tuesdays for 3rd and 4th Class.
Draughts class leagues are running in all classes at present with the top players from the leagues getting the opportunity to play it out in the school championship. Well done to Mark Carroll who came third in the recent in the recent Laois schools chess competition. 3rd, 4th, 5th and 6th Class will host a Science Fair in school today 16th February. Junior Infants -2nd Class will visit each class to see the work the other pupils have done for Science Month.
The Heath National School will be closed next week from Monday 20th February to Friday 24th February for school midterm.
Best of luck to Sophie Macnamara in 6th class. Sophie will represent our school in the Laois Spelling Bee on Tuesday 14th February which takes place in The Heath National School at 11am.
Sports Hall Athletics will start on Wednesday 25th January for 4 weeks for 1st and 2nd Class in the Rock GAA. The cost per session is €3 per child per week.
