24th August 2020
Dear Parent / Guardian,
RE: Fáilte ar ais
Our new school year begins this Thursday 27th August and we look forward to welcoming all our pupils and parents back again. We hope that the measures we have taken will assist in ensuring that our school remains Covid-19 free and open. To ensure this we need everyone in our school community to respect all Covid guidelines, not just in school, but in their wider lives thus reducing the risk. The goal is not to let this virus into the school - if it is not introduced it cannot be spread.
Our second goal is to limit the number of contacts if a case does occur. To achieve this new routines and procedures have been put in place which will undoubtedly present some unforeseen challenges. Every member of our school community will need to be patient and willing to adapt as we deal with these issues.
Over the last week we have informed you of some of the changes you can expect regarding dropping & collecting, physical distancing, reduced interactions, safe attendance and hygiene practices. Further information on practical day to day issues has now been published on our website which hopefully will help you prepare your child for their return to school.
As part of our response plan the school is also making preparations for online learning in case of closure. Class teachers will contact parents this week with a SeeSaw code (online learning platform) for their new class to ensure that learning can switch online immediately if required. This information will be issued to our new Junior Infant parents after their children start on Monday 31st August.
While we cannot eliminate all risk of Covid19 transmission in our school, by working together and following guidelines we can ensure that the risk remains low. We look forward to Thursday and to a year of progress for our children and in the fight against Covid-19.
