Non Uniform Day

To celebrate the end of Readathon Month, we are having a non uniform day on Friday 24th November. Children can wear in comfy clothes or their PJs.

Reading Month

The month of November is reading month. The school encourages children and parents to get reading for the month. Activities in school will include book swaps, daily challenges, quizzes, an online book fair and paired reading. With regard to the paired reading infant parents will be invited to come in on Thursday mornings from 9.05-9.30 to read with their child.
​On 29th November Laois Library will host story time to our Junior and Senior Infants from 9.30am-10.30am.
Welcome to Reading month!!
To promote engagement with and love of reading we are running a number of initiatives
in school during November. We hope that all children will benefit from and enjoy
engaging with Reading Month.
 Reading challenge – Can the pupils read for 50,000 minutes in November??
Through daily DEAR time in school and some reading at home we hope we can
reach this massive target. Sponsorships cards are provided and should be
returned by Dec 3rd . Only one card per family needs to be returned.

Clothing Collection

​The Parents Council are organising a clothing collection from Monday 13th to Wednesday 15th November. Any old clothes can be dropped in bags to the school during these dates. We raised €468.00

Junior and Senior Aistear Trip

Junior and Senior Infants will take a  trip to Playtown, Tullamore on Wednesday 15th November. The cost is €18 per child which can be paid online via the Aladdin app
The bus will leave the school at 9.15am and will return between 1pm-1.30pm

Computers

Computer Classes will commence on Wednesday 20th September until Easter for 3rd, 4th, 5th and 6th Class. The cost is €50 per child. This can be paid at any stage up until Easter
September to Christmas
3rd Class: 9.30am-10.30am
5th Class: 10.30am-11.00am, 11.30am-12.00pm
6th Class: 12.00pm-1.00pm
4th Class: 1.00-2.00pm
Christmas to Easter
5th Class: 9.30am-10.30am
3rd Class: 10.30am-11.00am, 11.30am-12.00pm
4th Class: 12.00pm-1.00pm

Cross Country

Cross Country races will commence at lunchtimes after Halloween for 1st-6th classes. There will be one race each week for six weeks with a little distance added each week. We hope that all children will participate and enjoy the runs

Please note that due to a national weather warning our school will open at the later time of 10am in the morning. Sam O'Brien's buses will collect an hour later than their usual collection time.
